Jemple is a social network.

Staying Safe Online

Our aim is to be a safe and responsible environment for people to enjoy and interact in. You must be 13 years of age or older to join our community and act responsibly whilst you are using our service.

No social networking site can guarantee that its site is entirely free of illegal, offensive, pornographic or otherwise inappropriate material, or that its members will not encounter inappropriate or illegal conduct from other members. This basically means that during your time on the site you may encounter such content and conduct. You can help us by notifying us of any nudity or pornography, or harassment or unwelcome contact by clicking on the report link located at the bottom of every members profile page.

Where confidential complaints are made through this reporting tool, we will investigate using messaging logs and any other trackable information we maintain and will remove the offending content or warn and potentially bar from the site those transmitting such content or engaging in such conduct as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours of reporting. We will acknowledge your message and will also respond at the end of our investigation with any actions we have taken to both parties individually.

People online are not always who they say they are. We cannot verify that a profile or attached photo's are generated by the person who they claim to be. It is therefore up to each member to ensure that they safeguard themselves using the tools available and common sense. To this end we ask every member to be careful about the information they display on their profile and whom they allow to view that information.

Our advice to you is NEVER EVER meet a stranger from the internet. Someone you have known online is NOT someone you know offline. If you are sure you have vetted someone and have decided to go against all sensible advice and meet up, we ask that you consider taking the following steps PRIOR to meeting them:

1.Hold a telephone conversation with them, using a landline, and always call them to verify it is a real number with the correct area dialling code. Also ask them for their address and double check this against Google streetmaps.

2.If possible hold a webcam conversation with them to confirm their identity visually.

3. Make sure you get their full name and check it out. Check it out on google and also on a people finder service where you can view electoral rolls for example. If anything does not stack up, DO NOT MEET THEM.

4. Thoroughly research the risks and safeguards to take before meeting, and always to make sure that other people are aware of what you are doing. If possible take a friend with you, any sane person will understand and not object to your friend accompanying you.

Harrassment.

We do not tolerate harrassment, hate, racism, abuse or intimidation of any sort. Nobody should put up with that and we will act if it is reported to our team. Our advice is simple:

Do not be provoked by anyone. The best policy if you are being harrassed is simply to ignore them and block their access to you. If someone signs-up under multiple accounts to gain access to you via repeated friend requests then please report that members usernames and we will investigate. Please also email transcripts of any mailings or IM conversations you have.

If someone is harrassing you by pretending to be you on the site by using your photo's, then please contact us and we will arrange for you to email us a 'salute'. A salute is a photo of yourself holding up the text we ask you to write so when we see the photo we can confirm it is actually you we are dealing with.
